Caspase-3 (Apopain) is commonly activated by numerous death signals and cleaves a variety of important cellular proteins and is essential for brain development. Ac-DEVD-CHO is a potent, reversible inhibitor of caspase-3 (Ki < 1nM for purified caspase-3) and also inhibits caspase-7 (Ki = 1.6 nM) as well as other caspases to a lesser extent.
